My original essay entitled "She is Among Us," is the lead piece in A Love Like No Other: Stories by Adoptive Parents, just out in paperback from Penguin/Riverhead Books (October 2006).

Here's an excerpt from a review of the book which appeared in the December 14, 2005 Philadelphia Inquirer:

"In 'She Is Among Us,' Christina Frank walks the streets of Hanoi, where she adopted her daughter, Lucy, searching the faces of passersby. She wonders if this one or that one is the woman who gave birth to her child...Her musing is poetic...Her story will resonate with many parents."
